Workforce Services
Created to foster and strengthen community bonds, Contra Costa County strives to act as an unwavering resource for the underserved and vulnerable members of our community. Providing a variety of financial and medical benefits to those who qualify, our programs are designed to ensure optimal health and wellness for all.
With more than 2,300 employees in more than five integrative county-led bureaus, we like to say that we’re in the business of doing great things for others. Our entire mission is to facilitate access to governmental programs for those in need throughout the county. Bolstered by the belief that all people deserve to enjoy a certain level of financial integrity without the loss of dignity, our squad leaders and members alike are driven to act as trusted resources for those who need either temporary or long-term assistance.
The intention is to eliminate the frustrations and confusion that community members often experience when trying to obtain social assistance benefits. We want to make the process as consistent and hassle-free as possible. Eliminating obstacles and reducing government red-tape delays, EHSD is your resource to local help for you and your family.
The EHSD benefit programs include:
- CalFresh — an innovative approach to the food stamp program, CalFresh issues monthly electronic benefits for approved grocery items to qualifying families.
- CalWorks — California’s work opportunity strategy, engineered to help low-income adults supplement monthly finances through qualifying efforts.
- Medi-Cal — As part of the Affordable Care Act, Medi-Cal is a subsidized health care program that ensures coverage for low-income families.
With a focus that has always been keenly aimed at treating every citizen of our county with respect and compassion, EHSD is your resource to the best our departments have to offer. Questions about what programs you may qualify for? Call us now. Any representative who answers will be happy to help.
